The Shir Libeynu School: Supplemental Jewish Learning Program (ages 7-11)
The 10-week, second term of the Jewish learning program for children ages 7-11 meets on Sundays (10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.), beginning January 2020, at a central location close to the University of Toronto. An optional Hebrew-language component is available from 9:15-9:45 a.m. In our inter-age class, we strive to build a caring community of learners who are deeply connected to each other, Jewish traditions and their relevance to contemporary life. Children who have had minimal or no formal Jewish education, or for whom this may be a first learning experience, are welcome.
We are accepting registrations until January 8, 2020, for the winter/spring session. The fee is $595 ($613 by Paypal) but we will be offering an early bird fee (payment by December 20, 2019) of $495 ($510 by Paypal). Space is limited, so please register early. A 5% sibling discount is available for families who have registered at least one child at full fee either in the winter/spring school session or the 2019/2020 Bnei Mitzvah Enrichment sessions. The teacher for this school is Dana Rubinshtein. Dana is an Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certified teacher. She holds Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Education degrees, and is currently pursuing a Master of Education degree at York University. Dana has been teaching at the Shir Libeynu School supplemental program since its inception, and developed the current Shir Libeynu High Holy Days’ children’s activities. She is fluent in Hebrew, Russian, and French, and has many years of experience as a teacher at after-school programs, a tutor, and camp counsellor. In addition to education, Dana is passionate about animals, and has been fostering with several animal-rescue organizations.
We are grateful to Shir Libeynu members Jon Novick and Denis Frawley for their generosity in donating venue space during our first year’s pilot project for the School.
