High Holy Days 2016/5777
With Rabbi Aviva Goldberg and Chazzan Daniela Gesundheit leading us, and with a huge group of talented, dedicated volunteers, we celebrated Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur this year. Whether it was new musical pieces alongside the cherished oldies from both our choir and other musicians, or Aviva’s guiding us in dance on the second day of Rosh Hashanah, and so much more, we felt involved and delighted.
Our many children and teens contributed and charmed us with crafts, challas and enjoying the shofar sounds. Please look at our D’var Torah page to see how our rabbi, our chazzan this year and other members conveyed their insightful musings. And thank you to all who participated, attended and volunteered, especially to Rabbi Goldberg, Chazzan Gesundheit and this year’s holiday coordinator, Jamie Flagal, our president (and leader of the children’s service on Yom Kippur).
High Holy Days at Shir Libeynu: 5776/2015
Witty and wise, musical and meaningful. Recollections of our High Holy Day services, which ended just a few days ago, continue to influence and inspire many who attended. We thank Rabbi Aviva Goldberg and Chazzan Daniela Gesundheit for their leadership, and the many soloists, musicians, artists, staff and volunteers who gave so much of themselves to make this a memorable experience.
We also had outstanding contributions to this year’s D’vrei Torah from those in the community: Rabbi Goldberg’s own on Erev Rosh Hashanah and Kol Nidre; her collaboration with one of our young-adult members in a dialogue about the Middle East; and two other very profound and poignant ones from other members. They are posted here.
Our children’s program started with an early-morning Rosh Hashanah service for families with younger children, led by Aviva, and then throughout the services lots of fun activities including holiday crafts, singing with Daniela and making of challas.

High Holy Day celebrations in 2013 and 2014
Our congregation is fortunate to have so many generous, gifted and thoughtful members who shared their talents and ideas with us during serices or workshops. Our less visible but very busy volunteers and staff worked tirelessly behind the scenes.
One of the things that makes our services so meaningful is that those in attendance are truly present and participatory. We are proud to have such engaged congregants.

High Holy Days at Cecil Community Centre
For several years, we used the bigger Cecil Community Centre, (formerly the Anshei Ostrovtzer Synagogue) in the Kensington Market/Chinatown area, and we regularly filled up the sanctuary.
