The Shir Libeynu School Supplemental Weekly Program
—Our weekly school program for ages seven to 11 (7-11) started as a pilot project in 2017, with sessions on various themes including Jewish stories, holidays and rituals It culminated in April, 2018, with one on arts and culture. In the second term, the children had a field trip to a gallery in a shul.
In our second year, we secured a rented space in a small school in the Annex for the classes. The 2018/2019 program, with a curriculum that focused on Torah study and visual midrash, had two ten-week sessions. This was the first year that an optional Hebrew-language component was offered. Rabbi Goldberg visited the classroom for discussion of the Torah.
The fall of 2019 component had as its theme women in the Torah. Again, some children took the optional Hebrew-language component. Our Shabbat chazzan, Paula Wolfson, attended the class to share Jewish music.
