It is 1958 Germany. A journalist identifies a teacher in a school playground as a former commander from Auschwitz. Johann Radmann, a young and idealistic public prosecutor, wants to take on the case. Blending real events with fiction and spy thriller, the film explores Radmann’s own education (he had never heard of Auschwitz), his pursuit of justice, and the “labyrinth of lies” and obstacles he must navigate to get to the truth of what happened during the War.
