What is a Chavurah?
A Chavurah is a small group of people who come together based on common interests. The word Chavurah comes from the Hebrew word “chaver” which means “friend.”
At CSL, our Chavurot (plural for chavurah) function as small communities within our community, giving members the opportunity to get to know other congregants, and deepen their connection to our congregation.
How do they work?
A Chavurah is a unique group based upon your interests, be it social, spiritual, educational, etc. They are self-starting and self-directed. After you complete our Chavurah questionnaire, which we will send you after we receive your expression of interest as per below, you will be placed with others in a group. We will let you know which group you are in, and who is in that group with you, and we will also have someone start your group off. After that, the Chavurah program is self-directed. The group itself decides what it would like to do – what, when, where, and how often – together.
